10000+ samples

In the beginning, I put a limit of 2000 samples for my renders as I had the impression that more didn't matter so much. After I experienced the result with ghost lights, giving great results (100% rendering) in a few minutes, I thought I had to keep the same quality also in scenes where I can't use ghost lights. Because faces are the most important, I want to make sure they are always at least 90% rendered. This now leads to renders with sometimes more than 10000 iray iterations or samples. I want to avoid any grainy surface, especially on the faces. A high amount of samples is related to the amount of light/shadow details I think, but I am not a specialist with this. For this reason also I am going to redo a lot of my earlier pictures in school (and I will replace all generic characters in class with genesis 8 models and more unique faces). I have an idea for giving them more individuality later in the story also.
